Zoom, Zoom

A few years back there was an animated movie released that became very popular called
Bolt”. We watched it numerous times with our, (then young), grand daughter. The dog thought he had super powers and when the little girl who was his master/ partner wanted him to run and go fast she would say, “Bolt, Zoom, Zoom”.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly we forget? Now that movie has been moved to the back shelf of the DVD cabinet and few people even remember it. Now when you mention “Zoom”, people automatically think of multi media interaction between people over the internet. We have meetings, share with family and friends and everyone gets to see as well as talk with one another.

The Zoom program has been a real blessing to us and others over this holiday season. We had a Zoom family meeting and shared with family, both locally and out of state. It was neat to see family that you had not seen for several years. We miss that social interaction, don’t we… we miss just seeing folks, hearing their voices, seeing them laugh and smile, but now we can do that long distance… what a blessing.

During the holiday season we often remember others also; those who are no longer alive and with us. People sometimes get very depressed during the holidays, because they no longer can see, hear or laugh with their loved ones.

We experience great loneliness if we let ourselves go in that direction, but how do we not? We overcome that loneliness and depression, by remembering that those who died as Christians went to a better place, truly. A few weeks a go an old friend died and my first thought was, “now he’s in heaven singing with my dad”!

We may not be able to have a “Zoom meeting” with those in heaven, but we can find joy in the fact that some day we will be reunited with them face to face. Paul writes these encouraging words in 1 Thessalonians 4:13- 18: “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words”.

So, “Zoom, Zoom” folks, hurry up and get yourself right with God and be ready for that great reunion.
